Overview

Dayara Bugyal is one of the most beautiful and gentle meadow treks in the Garhwal Himalaya. Wide, undulating grasslands stretch for kilometres at around 11,000 ft, framed by giants like Bandarpoonch and the Gangotri range. Green and flower-filled in summer and a soft, beginner-friendly snowfield in winter, it rewards trekkers in nearly every season with very little hardship.

Highlights

  • Vast, rolling alpine meadows with 180° mountain views
  • Gentle gradients — ideal for first-timers and families
  • Beautiful in summer green and as a soft winter snow trek
  • Views of Bandarpoonch, Srikanth and the Gangotri peaks

Day-by-day itinerary

    Dehradun → Raithal

A scenic drive from Dehradun along the Yamuna and Bhagirathi rivers to the pretty hillside village of Raithal (7,500 ft). Settle into the traditional base village and acclimatise for the night.

Climb steadily through dense oak and rhododendron forest that soon opens onto the lower meadows. Camp at the edge of the Dayara Bugyal grasslands with sweeping valley views.

  3. 3

Dayara Bugyal → Bakaria Top → Raithal

Explore the vast meadows up to Bakaria Top for an unbroken panorama of the Gangotri range and Bandarpoonch. Soak it in before descending back through the forest to Raithal.
