Day-by-day itinerary

  1. 1

    Dehradun → Sankri

The long, scenic drive from Dehradun, climbing through the Garhwal hills past the Tons river and terraced slopes. Settle into the wooden base village of Sankri (6,400 ft) for the night.

  2. 2

    Sankri → Juda Ka Talab

Climb steadily through snow-laden pine and oak forest to the frozen clearing of Juda Ka Talab. This serene lake-side campsite is pure magic under a blanket of winter snow.

  3. 3

Juda Ka Talab → Kedarkantha Base

A short, scenic ascent through thinning forest to the Kedarkantha base camp. The summit ridge and a wall of surrounding peaks come into full view as you climb.

  4. 4

    Base → Summit → Hargaon

A pre-dawn summit push to 12,500 ft, rewarded with a 360° sunrise panorama of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch and Black Peak. Descend the far side to camp in the forest clearing at Hargaon.

  5. 5

    Hargaon → Sankri

A gentle final descent through snow-dusted forest and meadow clearings back to Sankri. Rest and celebrate in the village with the team.

  6. 6

    Sankri → Dehradun

After breakfast, drive back to Dehradun through the mountains. Arrive by evening, tired and happy.
